The Studio
The ideas, process and point of view behind For Pete’s Sake.
Behind the Brand
For Pete’s Sake was born in Santa Monica in 2014—built from music, art, street culture and the people who gave the idea life. What started as a phrase became a point of view, carried by a pelican and made for anyone cut from a different cloth.
Our Story
Our Identity
Our Inspiration
The Name
Founder Andrew Kligier grew up hearing his grandmother Jean use “For Pete’s Sake” as her signature release valve—a phrase clean enough for the room, but sharp enough to cut through it. Years later, when it surfaced in a J. Cole lyric, it stopped sounding inherited and started sounding inevitable. Memory, music and attitude locked into place, and the name arrived fully formed—before the first logo, before the first garment, before there was even a brand.
The Pelican
The pelican was never there for decoration. It became the symbol because it lives by instinct. A fixture of the Santa Monica coast, impossible to mistake and built to command land, air and water, it dives headfirst after what it wants. That is the code behind For Pete’s Sake: move on your own terms, adapt without losing your shape, take the risk, make the catch—and turn what you bring back into something that moves the culture forward.
The Point of View
For Pete’s Sake is shaped by music, art, street culture and the restless energy of the Westside. The goal was never simply to make more clothes, but to create pieces with a voice of their own—built to start conversations, carry stories, stay in rotation and leave a mark long after the moment passes.
